Mission Statement
Checkerboard was founded in 1979 to document, through the medium of film and video, individuals who have made important contributions to the American Arts.
Subject

Landmarks in 21st Century American Architecture
A series of six films which offers architecture students, professionals and enthusiasts the rare privilege of experiencing dramatic new spaces through the eyes of those who designed them. Whereas the print media can only afford a static view of the newest developments in contemporary architecture, these documentaries, shot in high definition video, bring the viewer right inside the space itself. Each DVD includes a 30-minute main segment devoted to a tour of the building with the architect, along with additional segments of the architect discussing his work as a whole, plus an interview with the client who commissioned the building.
